BMW Announces End of X4 Production as It Refocuses on Future Mobility

Munich, Germany – April 2025 — BMW has confirmed that it will officially cease production of the BMW X4, marking the end of the model’s decade-long run in the brand’s Sports Activity Coupe lineup.

Originally launched in 2014, the X4 quickly carved out its niche by blending the versatility of an SUV with the dynamic styling of a coupe. With its sporty silhouette and performance-driven variants, including the M40i and high-performance X4 M, the model attracted drivers seeking both practicality and bold design.

However, BMW is now making strategic changes to its global lineup as the company accelerates its shift toward electrification and next-generation mobility solutions. The discontinuation of the X4 is part of a broader effort to streamline the portfolio and reallocate resources to high-demand segments, particularly electric vehicles and cutting-edge technology platforms.

“The X4 has played an important role in our global portfolio,” said a BMW spokesperson. “As we look ahead, we’re committed to investing in the models and technologies that will define the future of driving.”

Production of the X4 will continue through the end of 2025 to fulfill current market demand, but no direct successor has been announced. BMW’s focus will now intensify on models within the Neue Klasse platform, as well as expanding its all-electric offerings, such as the iX3, iX, and future compact EVs.

The move signals a significant step in BMW’s evolution as it adapts to a rapidly changing automotive landscape — one that emphasizes sustainability, digital innovation, and intelligent performance.
